Boat description, trip map and gallery
- Srebreno is a traditionally built boat, 18 meters long. Thanks to its tall mast, it stands out with its appearance and serves as a magnet for photography (slide 1 in the gallery below). Learn more information about the boat.
- The map is shown in the gallery on slide 2. The boat departs from the port of Pula (PP) at 8:15 and from the port of Bi-Village (BV) at 9:00. Arrival at the island of Veliki Brijun (NP) is expected around 9:30. The visit to the National Park lasts approximately three and a half hours. This is followed by departure to the island of Sveti Jerolim (SJ), where a two-hour swimming break is scheduled. Return to the port of Bi-Village (BV), followed by return to the port of Pula (PP)
- Slide 3: Upon arrival at the National Park, passengers are welcomed by pre-arranged tourist trains according to the selected guiding language. The tour includes the safari park, remote archaeological sites, and famous dinosaur tracks.
- Slide 4: The pier on Veli Brijun is the main arrival point for hotel guests and day-trippers. Most visitors reach the island by passenger ferry from Fažana.
- Slide 5: The photo shows the remains of a Roman villa in Verige Bay, one of the most important archaeological sites on Veli Brijun. The villa was built in the 1st century AD and was a luxurious country residence with several buildings for different purposes. The site is part of the “Roman Emperors Route”, certified by the Council of Europe.
- Slide 6: The large stone vessel surrounded by Mediterranean plants is part of the horticultural design shaped in the early 20th century by Paul Kupelwieser. At that time, Veli Brijun was envisioned as a spacious Mediterranean park with centuries-old pines, meadows, and landscaped walking paths.
- Slide 7: The Church of St. German from 1481 is located near the port on Veli Brijun. Today it serves as a lapidarium with an exhibition of copies of frescoes and Glagolitic inscriptions from Istria and Kvarner. The mosaic of Jesus Christ above the entrance was added later during restoration.
- Slide 8: The lapidarium displays a replica of the Baška Tablet, one of the most important monuments of Croatian literacy from around 1100. The collection includes stone monuments, Glagolitic inscriptions, and examples of medieval ornamentation from Istria and Kvarner. The original tablet is kept in Zagreb.
- Slide 9: The 1953 Cadillac Eldorado was one of the most luxurious American cars of its time. Produced in a limited series of 500 units, it symbolized prestige and the glamour of the 1950s. On Brijuni it reflects the period when Josip Broz Tito hosted world leaders here.
- Slide 10: The Boathouse is the only preserved Art Nouveau building on Veli Brijun. Located at the entrance to the port, it now serves as an interpretive and educational center of the National Park. Through its arches there is a view toward Fažana and Peroj.
- Slide 11: On the coast you can see the hotels Istra and Neptun, as well as the Boathouse. On the right side of the port you can see the smaller of the two passenger ferries of the National Park, which departs from Fažana.
- Slide 12: The coastline of Veli Brijun is rich in Mediterranean vegetation and crystal-clear sea. Deer and fallow deer roam freely on the island and can often be seen from the boat during the tour.
- Slide 13: The island of Sveti Jerolim lies in the south of the Brijuni archipelago and is known for its pebble and rocky beaches, about 1.5 km long. A break for lunch and swimming is planned here.
- Slide 14: Sveti Jerolim has no permanent residents. Outside the tourist season, the only inhabitants are birds—peacocks—which in the tourist season freely roam the island among visitors.
The photos were taken during this trip and show real locations that are visited.
